The FIA has announced that it will hear BAR's appeal over the banning of 'a device' at the recent German GP, next Monday.

A press release issued by the FIA yesterday, read:

Motor Sports Association (the National Sporting Authority for the UK): Appeal on behalf of licence-holder British American Racing GP Ltd against decision Number 16 made by the Stewards of the Meeting on July 24, 2004. The appeal concerns an "electro hydraulic software controlled device which connects the front wheels via drive shafts and allows controlled torque transfer from a faster wheel to a slower wheel even under braking" on the T car of the team.

The appeal will be heard in Paris next Monday, with the result announced the following day, just days ahead of the Hungarian GP.

The banning of the device came at a difficult time for the Brackley based outfit, which saw its driver, Jenson Button, lose ten places on the grid as a result of an engine change.
