The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team today announced its official driver line-up for the 2005 season, which will see Spain's Fernando Alonso joined at the team by Italian Giancarlo Fisichella. For 31 year-old Fisichella, this will mark his debut as a Renault driver, but a return to the team he last drove for (as Benetton) in 2001.
"We are delighted to welcome Giancarlo to the Renault team," commented Managing Director Flavio Briatore. "Since we last worked with him in 2001, every aspect of his approach to the sport has matured. I am confident that Fernando and Giancarlo are the drivers we need to achieve our goal of winning the world championship in the coming seasons."
Fisichella's arrival will see the departure of Jarno Trulli from the Mild Seven Renault F1 Team, upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the season.
"Jarno's dedication and enthusiasm have been great assets and he has made an important contribution to the development of the team, and the image of the Renault Group" concluded Briatore. "He is assured a successful future in Formula 1, and I wish him all the best for the future on behalf of the entire team."
