A1 Grand Prix has appointed the vastly experienced motorsport manager, John Wickham as its Technical Operations Advisor to oversee the test programme for its new car that will begin at the end of this month. He will be in charge of the entire testing programme and will also represent A1 Grand Prix at all technical meetings with its suppliers.
When announcing the appointment A1 Grand Prix General Manager, Stephen Watson, said: "It was essential to have an experienced co-ordinator once the test programme got underway and John comes with all the right credentials. He has been involved in the sport for over 30 years in every formula up to and including Formula 1. His technical and operational knowledge will be invaluable."
John's motorsport career began in 1973 when he was appointed Competitions Manager of the British Automobile and Racing Club. Since then, teams he has been involved with include Team Surtees, March Engineering, Spirit Racing, Footwork Arrows Formula One and Audi Sport UK, with his most recent success being that of Team Director for Bentley Motors Limited where he oversaw the team finishing first and second in the 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours.
