Despite F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone's demands that the current qualifying format be changed in time for this weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone, it is simply not going to happen.

Talking to pitpass, an FIA spokesman said that although the matter is now under discussion, there simply isn't time.

First off, any format change would require the unanimous support of the team bosses - better known as hell freezing over - which would then require a meeting of the Formula One Commission and then the World Motor Sport Council.
