Further to our previous article in which we reported that Ralf Schumacher would not be taking part in this weekend's French Grand Prix, or indeed any further races until much later in the season, the German has added some further comments to his website.

"Yesterday's diagnosis was a shock," he admits. "After all, they had checked me in a hospital in Indianapolis. It looks as if I narrowly escaped a catastrophe but what happens, happens. The injury is worse than expected, and I have to deal with it now.

"It hasn't changed the fact that I need a good rest, but it takes a bit a longer until I have regained complete fitness.

"Of course I am eagerly awaiting to return to my car," he adds. "Getting healthy right now is a top priority and I will take the time that is needed."

He then revealed that his brother, Michael, has been in constant contact: "It's good that my brother keeps calling and asking how I am feeling," writes the WiliamsF1 driver.

"Frank Williams has also called me, saying I should take time to get healthy again and be grateful to have been that lucky."
