The story concerning Jacques Villeneuve testing with WilliamsF1 this week, first started by a couple of British newspapers and then leapt on by various F1 websites, has proven to be totally wrong.
Having been sceptical of the prospect of Villeneuve testing the Williams, and indeed the validity of the newspaper reports, pitpass contacted WilliamsF1's media manager, Liam Clogger early on Tuesday morning to get the truth, Mr Clogger was delighted to put the record straight.
It has since emerged that Villeneuve was nowhere near Paul Ricard but further along the coastline in Monte Carlo.
"Jacques was, in actual fact, training in Monaco with his personal trainer and was even more surprised than me to hear that he was apparently in Paul Ricard," Villeneuve's manager, Craig Pollock told the Canadian's official website. "We did have a good laugh together and had a good discussion about the good old F1 rumour mill."
