1. Michael Schumacher

Sunday: Fastest in warm-up but also suffered engine failure in spare car. Beaten into third place off the grid, moving up to second when Montoya stopped under the safety car. Inherited lead when leading teammate stopped on lap 26, now with 12s lead. Pitted and stopped for 11.4s on lap 38, dropped to second place and pushed by Raikkonen, retook lead when Montoya stopped on lap 51. Lead grew to 21s when Montoya retired on lap 57, but then eased up so victory by 1.1s. 1st
Saturday: Fastest in both morning sessions. Engine very good in qualifying. Disappointed not to be able to fight for pole. Lost time on third run, his fastest. Didn't extract full potential from car. 2nd/1m 13.018s
Friday: Glanced wall on outside of final chicane with right hand rear wheel towards end of morning session and pitted with broken wheel rim. Ran three sets of tyres as he worked on race set-up, determined not to leave anything for chance after last year's problems. 3rd/1m 15.788s

2. Rubens Barrichello

Sunday: No major problems in warm-up. Good start, running two stop strategy and up to second place, then overtaking Montoya to lead lap one when Montoya runs wide. Opened up 4.3s when safety car came out. Then opened up gap to teammate, to 5.0s before pitting for 10.6s, longish to clean out side pods. Rejoined sixth, just behind Coulthard, but then dropped back. Moved up to third again with pit stops, but then stopped again on lap 54 in 5.8s, dropping to fourth, just behind Coulthard. Tried to overtake Coulthard on lap 61 when Coulthard delayed by slower car but ran over kerb in final chicane and then settled on third to the flag. 3rd
Saturday: Went off onto grass at turns eight/nine and on regaining track, locked up brakes and slammed into wall, damaging right hand front wheel. Hit kerb and spun at turn three/four on third run in qualifying. Admitted playing catch-up for most of the day. 4th/1m 13.301s
Friday: Fastest in morning session, then short cut chicane in afternoon session and suffered brake problems. Finds car well balanced. Need to find right settings now. 8th/1m 16.440s

3. David Coulthard

Sunday: Routine warm-up although two off-track excursions. Moved up two places to sixth at the start, pushed by Heidfeld and Fisichella after safety car period, but then pulling away again, but struggling with oversteer. Pushed by Barrichello after the Ferrari driver's pit stop, but again pulled away. Made only pit stop on lap 49 in 9.2s, rejoining fourth which became third with Barrichello's second stop and second with Montoya's retirement. Nearly overtaken by Barrichello when delayed by Sato on lap 62, but pulled away. 2nd
Saturday: Had a spin at turn eight in first part of morning session but rejoined. Had spin at the end of the session at the final corner in qualifying but able to rejoin. Felt qualifying 'horrible.' Hit traffic on first run and lost time. Second run affected by yellow flags due to Sato incident. Felt third row possible. 8th/1m 14.385s
Friday: Had two brief offs in morning session. Problems trying various software options which did not quite work. Worked on race trim. Evaluated tyres, and tried to find the right balance. Still work to be done and can get more out of package. Finds grip level has improved. 1st/1m 15.407s

4. Kimi Raikkonen

Sunday: Never got clear run in traffic in warm-up, also using spare car. Overtook Ralf at the start although pushed hard by the Williams driver - even though Montoya overtook them both after the safety car interlude. Challenged Michael after Ralf pitted on lap 42 and then pitted on lap 45 in 7.8s but didn't take enough fuel. Running a safe fourth, economizing on fuel, in the final stages. 4th
Saturday: Had a spin in first part of morning session but rejoined and then had another brief off. Could have improved on last run in qualifying but for rain. 5th/1m 13.898s
Friday: Short cut final corner in afternoon session. Had problems with software like teammate and worked on tyre evaluation. 4th/1m 15.946s

5. Ralf Schumacher

Sunday: Routine warm-up, happy brakes and traction. Lost a place to Raikkonen at start and pushed him to the Williams driver's intended fuel stop on lap 42. But the car took on only five kilos of fuel in 20.8s and had to stop again two laps later in 9.8s. Dropped to then, then caught Trulli with 12 laps to go but never managed to get past. Engine stopped after chequered flag. 7th
Saturday: Pushed into pits at the end of morning session after running out of petrol. Suffered lead in engine pneumatic system so used T-car, which was set up for Montoya. Not happy with T-car, so felt pole not in grasp. 4th/1m 13.301s
Friday: Spun in Senna corner in afternoon session but rejoined. Very pleased with car, with good balance. Find tyre choice not difficult. Tested brakes and tyres. 5th/1m 16.018s

6. Juan Pablo Montoya

Sunday: Ran lower downforce in warm-up and cleaned up his side of the grid. Led most of first lap but ran wide and Barrichello overtook. 4.3s down in second place when safety car came out and instantly pitted in 11.0s. Overtook both Williamses when safety car went in, so running third and then second when Barrichello pitted, but 15s behind Michael. Inherited lead when Michael pitted and built up 12s lead, but then pitted again on lap 51, dropping in third place which became second, 7.1s behind Michael, when Barrichello pitted. Engine expired two laps later. Retired

Sauber Petronas

7. Nick Heidfeld

Sunday: Good warm-up, but reported track slower due to yesterday's rain. Stayed seventh in early stages, pulling away from Fisichella but dropped into his clutches again with mistake on lap 31. Pitted in 12s on lap 37 but exceeded pit lane speed limit on rejoining and had to pit again on lap 44 for a drive through penalty, but speeded again due to limiter problem and had to pit again for 10s penalty on lap 51. 12th
Saturday: Felt first two runs in qualifying good and no problems in either. Car going well. Then made small change which worsened car and fourth run spoiled by rain. 7th/1m 14.139s
Friday: Had brief off at end of morning session. Quite satisfied with time, as had a lot of fuel on board and working on brakes and cooling for the race. Did long runs. 14th/1m 17.250s

8. Felipe Massa

Sunday: Disappointed with top speed in warm-up. Lost one place at start and not happy with differential setting in opening stages. Battling with Button for 11th after safety car interlude and pitted on lap 40, but pit lane speed limiter not working and fiven drive-through penalty, served on lap 48. Pushed Panis in closing stages. 9th
Saturday: Went off at Senna corner in second part of morning session but rejoined. Frustrating qualifying. Differential settings wrong on first run and no traction control. Second run spoiled by oil from Sato's car. Third run changed downforce and car not so good, in spite of slight improvement. Track wet for final run. 12th/1m 14.823s
Friday: Had brief off in morning session and another in the afternoon. Happy with track, no problems to learn but found old tyres made car nervous and made mistakes. 16th/1m 17.489s

DHL Jordan Honda

9. Giancarlo Fisichella

Sunday: Slight problem with set-up in warm-up. Dropped two places to eighth at start, then briefly pushed Heidfeld but had lonely race until caught him again prior to pit stops. Pitted for 11.3s on lap 45, and was soon up to fifth place in closing stages, and catching Raikkonen. Generally pleased with car. 5th
Saturday: Very pleased as top six more than expected. Had improved car step by step throughout the day. 6th/1m 14.132s

10. Takuma Sato

Sunday: Back in race car for warm-up after oil on exhaust set fire to car bodywork following engine blow-up in qualifying. Car not so good on second set and lost a second a lap, struggling with oversteer. Pitted again on lap 46 in 11.0s. Lonely final stint but happy. 10th
