At 18 years and 228 days, Verstappen became the youngest ever F1 race winner, a record he still holds today and which is unlikely ever to be surpassed due to subsequently introduced FIA super licence requirements.

In 2021 he achieved true greatness by winning the driver's championship after a controversial final race duel with Lewis Hamilton. Despite the dubious nature of his win, he underlined this achievement by retaining the trophy in 2022 (also not without controversy due to Red Bull's budget cap breach).

Challenges and Controversy

Max's aggressive style has led to both success and controversy. His daring overtakes, relentless pace, and sheer tenacity have earned him a reputation as one of the most exciting drivers on the grid. However, his fearlessness has occasionally caused clashes with other drivers and criticism from pundits, in particular regarding the races in Brazil and Saudi Arabia during the 2021 season.
