As he continues with his preparations for his debut season in F2, having recently been recruited to the Ferrari Driver Academy, Jean Todt is only too aware of the enormous pressure that rests on Mick Schumacher's shoulders.

Todt was Michael Schumacher's boss at Ferrari when Mick was born in 1999, the year before the German legend won the first of his five titles with the Maranello outfit.

Having known him from birth, Todt appreciates what Mick is going through, not only in terms of his F2 debut, but the obvious stress in terms of his father's condition following his skiing accident in 2013.

As Mick continues to show strong pace in pre-season testing, Todt has called on the media not to pressurise the youngster.

Asked about Mick's recruitment to the Ferrari Driver Academy, Todt said: "I'm very happy, it's Michael's son, I've known him since he was a baby.

"I love him, he's a great character," he continued, "but we must leave him in peace. He's demonstrating to be a very talented driver, on top of that he's a very nice boy, very humble, very well-educated. I will follow him very closely as I've always been doing.

"He's a simple, honest, loyal, good boy. He's not yet spoiled."

"About 35 years ago i was at the trackside during practice and even the prequalifying was impressive cus we were so close to the track 8 meters or so ..
And later jumped the fence and walked trough the pits.
Great Zandvoort and 500 meters from the beach."
