Charlie Whiting to attend Thursday press conference

Charlie Whiting is to join Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton at tomorrow's official press conference.

The FIA's race director, who hit the headlines in Mexico when a somewhat irate Sebastian Vettel sent him a message, will join the Ferrari driver and Lewis Hamilton at the official press conference that gets the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend underway.

To add even more spice, Max Verstappen will join them, as will Nico Rosberg and Daniel Ricciardo.

At some stage or another each was involved in an accident during the Mexican Grand Prix - and several races before that - that necessitated the intervention of the race stewards, the after effects of which are still being felt.

No doubt the drivers and assembled media will want to ask Whiting about Lewis Hamilton's first corner excursion and how the Briton escaped punishment, while a similar incident late in the race saw Verstappen hit with a time penalty.

Then there was the failure to penalise the Red Bull driver during the race, which in turn impacted Sebastian Vettel who was to clash with Daniel Ricciardo moments after delivering his expletive ridden message to Whiting.

A race which saw the final podium place given to three different drivers will not be the only subject up for discussion, as the assembled masses will no doubt want to discuss the Verstappen rule, especially as the man himself will be present.

The gooseberry, so to speak, will be Felipe Massa, whose only controversy of late was the clash with Fernando Alonso during the United States Grand Prix.

Friday's press conference could also be quite lively with Maurizio Arrivabene, Paul Hembery, Christian Horner, Monisha Kaltenborn, Guenther Steiner and Fred Vasseur all in attendance.

However, the late inclusion of Bernie Ecclestone would certainly add some spice.

"Well hopefully, he won't be snap-chatting through the press conference..."
