Sharp-eyed mechanic saved Grosjean's Bahrain bacon

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has revealed that at the Frenchman's final pitstop a sharp-eyed crew member spotted a problem which could have led to the team's second retirement of the day shortly after.

"In the third one (stop) we had an issue with one of the wheel nuts," revealed Steiner. "I give credit to the crew member because when he went to put the wheel on, he realized something was wrong and took it off again.

"Had he not fixed it, the car probably would have been stopped after the first two corners from the wheel being loose. So we had an issue, but we solved it and maybe lost two seconds and it didn't make a difference anyway. The mechanic and his actions stopped us from making an even bigger mistake."

Indeed, Grosjean went on to add a further ten points to the American team's tally, proving that the eight won in Melbourne were no fluke.

"I'm *really* starting to like Haas. They're turning out to be very, VERY competent, and in an amazingly short time. Indeed, I'd rather take a nine-second pit stop and have the car be *right* for the finish than get a three-second stop and have to retire because of a loose wheel. After all, "in order to finish first, one must first finish."

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Grosjean manages to pull a podium out this year, at the rate he and the team are going. (Not saying I *expect* one, just that I wouldn't be *shocked* by one.)"
