Trident reveals GP2 and GP3 driver changes for Spa

NEWS STORY

The GP2 Series will line-up for the seventh round of the season in Belgium and Trident is looking forward to the weekend.

The positive feedback gathered from the two previous races at Budapest set up some ambitious goals for the team and their frontrunner Raffaele Marciello.

A brand-new addition will feature Sweden Gustav Malja behind the wheel of the No 12 car while Austrian Rene Binder recovers from the bacterial infection that hit him before Budapest and jeopardized his results in Hungary. Coming from the Formula Renault 3.5, Malja will be at his maiden championship start and the whole staff is ready to give their 100% to guide him as he takes his first steps in the category.

The GP3 series round at Spa-Francorchamps is also an highly-anticipated event as the championship is finally making its way back on-track for round five out of nine. With the second half of the season approaching, Trident and Luca Ghiotto are currently leading the standings with 121 points and a 23-point margin over their closest followers. The round at Spa-Francorchamps will be pivotal and Ghiotto will be even more motivated than usual. The Italian made his GP3 debut at Spa one year ago, and everybody at Trident still remember his successful run which included a stunning pole position.

The Belgian round of the GP3 series will also bring a surprise new addition in terms of the drivers. Lining-up alongside Ghiotto and Artur Janosz, who is improving his performance race by race, will be Dutch 20-year-old female racer Beitske Visser (pictured). After a promising career in karting, Beitske showcased her skills in single seater racing and is set for a comeback after sampling the series in 2014. Beitske won't be the first woman racer to join the Trident GP3 team, following in the footsteps of rookie Vicky Piria in 2012.
