Daniil Kvyat is the first driver to fall foul of the complicated new power unit component rules for 2014 and is hit with as ten-place grid penalty.

One of several drivers on the 5th of at least one of his components, the Russian has been hit with a ten-place grid penalty for tomorrow's race after his team opted to change the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) on his car ahead of today's practice session.

Under the new regulations, each driver is only allowed five of each of the six components that comprise the power unit over the course of the season, those components being the engine (ICE), MGU-K, MGU-H, energy store, turbocharger and control electronics.

Kvyat is the first driver to be penalised under this rule, though many more will follow, as can be seen from the schedule of power unit use prior to this weekend.
