As the off-throttle blown diffuser row continues to overshadow the Silverstone GP weekend, the FIA called a crisis meeting of the Technical Working Group.

The meeting took place this morning ahead of the qualifying session for the British Grand Prix, as the sport attempts to play down a row which Lotus boss Tony Fernandes has (rightly) described as a shambles.

Following this morning's official directive from the FIA, issued shortly before the free practice session, in which the governing body effectively did a U-turn, going back on a previous decision to permit Renault a 50% throttle allowance, Charlie Whiting subsequently called an extraordinary meeting of the TGW.

"It is important that each team sends a senior technical representative and we suggest that each team principal should also attend," wrote the FIA's technical delegate to each of the teams.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Red Bull boss Christian Horner, who had offered a terse "no comment" in the wake of an earlier meeting with the FIA, said: "Obviously we need all the teams to agree to move on and put this behind us. At the moment, in our opinion, we are running at a disadvantage to some of the other engine manufacturers. The most simplistic thing would be to go back to where we were."
