Renault unhappy with engine delay

Renault boss Jean-Francois Caubet admits that his company is rapidly growing impatient over the FIA's dithering over the new for 2013 engine rules.

Having previously agreed to the new four-cylinder turbo formula, rival manufacturers are having second thoughts with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone adding to the mix. Other than the costs involved, Ecclestone and Ferrari claim that the proposed formula would damage the aesthetic appeal of the sport, particularly in terms of noise.

As a result, ahead of a meeting of the F1 Commission next week, the FIA has admitted that it is open to the idea of delaying the needs formula indeed it is being suggested that the new and old formulas could run side by side.

Now, Renault Sport managing director Jean-Francois Caubet, has admitted that his company is growing tired of the procrastination over the issue warning that unless the FIA clarifies the situation his company could withdraw from the sport.

While he can sympathise with the issues raised by Ferrari, Mercedes and Cosworth, he has urged the FIA to take control of the situation before his company feels it is too late and walks away from the sport.
