In the wake of internet reports that Robert Kubica's 'fiancee' claims the Polish driver's condition has "worsened", Lotus Renault GP has issued a brief statement confirming that his condition "remains positive".

"The latest update on Robert is that his condition remains positive," said the British team this afternoon. "He will stay in intensive care for the next couple of days to allow a complete check-up and to avoid another change of department before his final operation.

"His good general condition means that the final surgery (on the elbow) is scheduled for Wednesday," the team added.

Earlier, a couple of websites quoted Kubica's "fiancee" Edyta - whose last name is not known - as saying; "his state has somewhat worsened, both in regards to his physical and psychological state".
