Q&A with Adrian Zaugg

NEWS STORY
14/06/2010

You're back in GP2 racing after a long time. Have you had troubles in finding some reference points in such an hard championship?
No, I was competitive straightaway from the first test session onwards. I also had a good comeback race in the Gp2 Asia round at Bahrain beginning of the year, after having had a race-break for six months...

You had a tough start so far this season, with several really unlucky races and episodes.
Yeah, that's correct, it's been the most difficult start to a racing season in my career so far!

Let us now know Adrian Zaugg off the track. What do you do when you're not involved in motor racing? Do you have any hobbies?
I love sports in general; I do Kickboxing, Mountain-biking, Tennis, Karting, Basketball, Beach-Volleyball now in Summer... I enjoy nature, the wildlife.

Are you single or have you a girlfriend?
Single.

Let's look at your favorite:
Car: Lamborghini Murcielago LP-670.

Food: Italian and chinese foods.

Music: RnB, Hip Hop, Soul, Pop, Rock, 70's and 80's.

Movie: Comedy and action-movies.

Book: I don't have one particular I like most.

Racing track: I like fast circuits.

Type of holiday: Spending time with family and friends.

The most difficult moment of your career
The 2007 season, while recovering from my surgery (both forearms).

The best moment of your career
There were many good moments...hard to choose.

Where do you live now?
During my racing season in Switzerland, in between the racing seasons in Cape town, South Africa.

Do you return often to South Africa?
Every year.

Who are the most important people in your career?
My parents!

Where do you imagine yourself in 10 years?
I don't think so far, I live for the moment.

If you have a child, would you favor a possible career in motor-racing?
Whatever my child would desire to do, I would support it!

Have you a driver as a model?
Not really, but I respect Gilles Villeneuve and Ayrton Senna. Special characters!

Where and how did you start your passion in motor-racing?
My passion in motor-racing grew when watching F1 on TV when I was a little boy. I started karting when I was 13 years old in Switzerland.

You have been part of the Red Bull Junior Driver, one of the most important programs for youth talent. What are your memories of that experience?
Without Red Bull, I wouldn't be were I am today. They made it possible for me to start my Formula career!

Is there any choice in your career you wouldn't repeat?
I don't like to look back in the past, I believe everything happens for a reason, I am where I am today because this is my way. I learn from mistakes in the past, but I don't regret decisions, choices taken.

At the end of 2010 you will be happy if....
In this season I could demonstrate my potential and make some progress in my racing career!
