Barcelona Test Round-Up - Trident Racing

NEWS STORY
09/04/2010

Trident Racing ended this week's 3-day collective testing at Barcelona. In the final session before the start of the 2010 GP2 Main Series season, both Johnny Cecotto and Adrian Zaugg completed the work scheduled. The major issue on the Catalan track has been a wreck involving a faultless Zaugg in the final day. The team completed a true tour-de-force and, in the end, the South African was able to rejoin the track for 30 laps in the afternoon, despite all the time lost in the pits. The cars provided good reliability, with only one inconvenience happened to Cecotto in the AM session of the first day, due to a faulty water pump, promptly replaced. Trident Racing is set to be back running in a month at the same venue, for the first round of the 2010 GP2 Main Series, running from May 7 to 9.

Johnny Cecotto. "My personal balance, at the end of this 3-day test, is quite positive. I had to face a tough start, due to a mechanical problem, and then for the different set-up solutions we tested. In the final session though, laptimes quickly improved despite, due to my mistake, I left about half a second on-track, without being able to show our full potential. I hope that the latest feedback will prove useful for the first round of the championship, starting next month"

Adrian Zaugg. "I haven't been able to end my testing job as I had to, due to a crash that virtually ended my day after just 8 laps. Ho Pin Tung didn't see me and shut the door, and that contact really cost a lot to the team, as we couldn't spend all the time running time we had. Our laptimes during our time on-track have not been exceptional, but I believe that weather on race day will be different, due to the heat and to the tire groove left by the F1 cars. We also collected a lot of data, and we'll have plenty of time before the season's start to analyze them well."
