A1 Team Lebanon returns to the track this weekend for the second round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, which is taking place at Goldenport circuit, Chengdu City, in China. Daniel Morad will be back behind the wheel of the Lebanese entry in the Series with Jimmy Auby travelling to the Asian outpost as reserve driver.

Morad brought Lebanon its first World Cup of Motorsport points in the season opener at Zandvoort, Netherlands last month and will be aiming to build on this start with further strong race results and more championship points. After travelling to Beirut to meet with the media following his success, the 18-year- old, representing the Arab nation in his first season of A1GP racing, is determined to bring further pride to Lebanon.

"I go out on track to win," says Morad. "This is a very tough, highly competitive series so it's a very ambitious goal for me, having only had two races with the team and only one day's testing ahead of that. It's early days and we just need to have more experience of the car. For me, it's having more time behind the wheel and for the team, it's gaining data and feedback on the car's handling. It's only been a few weeks since I started working with the A1 Team Lebanon crew as well, so our working relationship needs to develop and that will happen as we make headway in the Series."

The Series pays its first visit to the Chengdu location, having previously raced in Shanghai and Zhuhai in China. The majority of the drivers, including Morad, will be racing at this track for the first time as well. He says of this challenge, "I haven't raced here before, but I doubt if many of the drivers have visited either, so it will be a fairly level playing field. It will not take many laps to learn the track configuration, but it will take much longer to master it. I thrive on new challenges, so I'm ready for this one."

The Chengdu circuit is the fourth different track in China to host a round of the A1GP Series. In the first season season the Series visited Shanghai and in season two returned to this F1 venue and also raced on a temporary street circuit in Beijing. Last season the races were again held in Shanghai and also in Zhuhai. The track is 3.3km long, with 13 turns and a 600m straight which is also used as a drag strip. The venue has previously held rounds of the Asian Touring Car Championship and Formula V6 Asia.

Billy Karam, Ambassador for A1 Team Lebanon, says of the team's next challenge, "Having brought success for Lebanon in only his first race weekend of the team, Daniel has already gained the respect and admiration of our country. We know that every race weekend will be a big challenge for the team and that the competition for points will be tough. Many of the other teams have had more testing time so that will increase the performance level. I know that everyone from the team will be putting all their efforts into bringing further success to Lebanon."

Tameem Auchi, Seatholder for A1 Team Lebanon adds, "We've had the best start to the season since the beginning of the Series and finally scored our first points. The next goal is to score more points and I don't think anyone doubts how tough that will be. Daniel is young, ambitious and talented, with a good team behind him so we're in a strong position and I hope that we'll be challenging for more points this season."

The A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, Chengdu, China kicks off on Friday 7 November with the rookie and developing nations session in the morning and first official practice in the afternoon. Final practice and qualifying will be held on Saturday 8 November with the two A1GP races taking place on Sunday 9 November.
