While not in any way aspiring to the OBN - the Order of the Brown Nose - Pitpass editor Chris Balfe is the first to express his admiration of Amalgam and its products, then again, ask any of the lucky prize-winners who have won Amalgam models and steering wheels in our competitions.

It's a long, quite funny, story, which we won't go into here, but editor Balfe has three of Amalgam's 1:8 scale cars - no, he didn't win them in the Pitpass competitions! - and refers to them as works of art.

A friend of Balfe's, Arthur Field, who happened to be present when one of the cars was delivered recently, described it as one of the most perfect pieces of engineering and detail he had ever seen, and though not a serious motorsport fan admitted he would be delighted to have one in his possession.

Sam Spindlow, who recently won the 1:8 model of Jenson Button's 2006 Hungary GP winner, and has the car in his restaurant in Guernsey, recently wrote: "Andy Priaulx has just been in for lunch and he's going to get BMW to get him a model." Adding: "The Chief executive of RBS. was in also and he wants to get a Williams for their reception.

"They are really amazing," adds Sam, "every time I look at it I see some more detail. I meant to say, I have had a number of e-mails from people who subscribe to Pitpass and who know me, calling a jammy b*****d!"

Well, if you thought the 1:8 scale models stunning, what do you think of this example of the Ferrari F2008, which comes in 1:5 scale!

In other words, it is 916mm long, 342mm wide and stands 212mm high - or for those of us who like our measurements in English, around 36 inches long, almost fourteen inches wide and over 8 inches high.

Stunning simply doesn't do it justice.
