Soucek in for DPR at Monaco

David Price Racing (DPR) will line up on the Monaco grid with Andy Soucek and Diego Nunes driving for the team this weekend. Regular driver, Nunes, will be looking to continue to make improvement as he gains experience with the GP2 car and team. Soucek, confirmed as replacement driver for injured Michael Herck, on a single-race deal, returns to the Surrey-based team, with which he scored a podium on his last outing at the opening round of the GP2 Asia Series.

Soucek says of the upcoming weekend, "I'm looking forward to running with DPR in Monaco. Thanks to my sponsors, Knight Frank, Interwetten, and L'Equip Asset Management, which is a new partner for me, I'm able to be on the grid and I'm hoping to bring them and DPR some good results. It's one of the most exciting, high-pressured, prestigious motor racing events and it's very special to be part of this.

"I scored three podiums in my last three races with the team so I'm hoping to continue that momentum. I raced here last year with DPR and it was a fairly strong weekend. I was fifth quickest in free practice, but made a mistake in qualifying. In the race I had an early incident which damaged the steering on my car, yet despite this I was able to keep running and the pace was there. Against this background, I'm feeling very confident. My focus will be on doing the best job I can and I'll be aiming to bring the team more valuable championship points."

The third round of the 2008 GP2 Series supports the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix, one of the most glittering, glamorous events of the motorsport calendar. For the first time GP2 will have two races in the principality with the Feature event on Friday morning and the Sprint race on Saturday afternoon.

The Monaco circuit is the venue for the first of two street races on this year's GP2 calendar. The layout of the circuit has remained largely unchanged since it was created1929, with the addition of three chicanes and the sea-front swimming pool over the years. It twists and turns through the streets of Monte Carlo and along the harbour front, and with the backdrop of expensive yachts, high rise apartment blocks and famous landmarks such as the Casino, is one of the most unique circuits in motorsport.

Nunes will be experiencing the challenge for the first time this weekend, while for Soucek it will be his third visit. David Price, Team Principal, DPR, says, "We've brought Andy in to the team for this race weekend to accelerate the car development and with the unique demands of Monaco we wanted to add an experienced driver to partner our rookie, Diego.

"We hope that his experience here can help us all put in strong performances. Diego will benefit from Andy's track knowledge and we can work together to get on top of this very difficult track. Andy knows the team and the engineer, Andy (Miller), so it should be easy for him to be on the pace quite quickly which will be important here. As always we know the competition will be tough, the track will challenge the driver's skills and we'll need to support this with strong teamwork."

Herck is currently sidelined with a hand injury and is set to return to the driving seat at next month's Paul Ricard test, but as a Monaco resident, he'll be on the pitwall with the team to support them at his home event.
