Lewis Hamilton and Sir Stirling Moss (right) are to make appearances at this year's Brooklands Motoring Festival: 'The Double Twelve'.

The festival, which will take place over 28-29 June 2008 in Weybridge, Surrey, will be an action-packed weekend of entertainment. Based around a unique Concours d'Elegance with highlights including Grand Prix and other single seater racing cars from all decades and the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows Display Team, the weekend is set to appeal to everyone from motoring and motor sport enthusiasts through to families looking for a special day out.

The appearance by the drivers is particularly impressive as the festival will take place just one week before the British Grand Prix. Peter O'Halloran, managing director of Mercedes-Benz World, commented: "Brooklands was the birthplace of circuit motor-racing as we know it today and witnessed countless world records being made after its opening in 1907. It was therefore extremely fitting for us to welcome key figures on the current circuit such as Lewis Hamilton and racing legend Sir Stirling Moss."

Brooklands Museum and Mercedes-Benz World will jointly organise the event which will establish 'The Double Twelve' as a unique Concours d'Elegance that incorporates a series of driving tests which will be judged by a select panel of experts.

Over two days, competitors using some of the most elegant cars from the whole span of the 20th Century will take part in a series of driving trials following layouts used in the Junior Car Club Rallies of the 1930s at Brooklands. The tests will take place in challenging environments, such as the Members' Banking and the notorious Test Hill of the original circuit, as well as on the modern Handling Circuits at Mercedes-Benz World.

Points awarded in the two disciplines will be combined to give an overall score, ensuring that the class and overall winners will be selected from the best drivers using the best-kept vehicles.

Director of Brooklands Museum Allan Winn, explained: "The battle for the Double Twelve trophies will take into account beauty, preparation and condition as well as performance and driving skill. It is this combination of disciplines which will make the event exciting for competitors and spectators alike."

The Brooklands Motoring Festival is being held at Brooklands in Weybridge, Surrey, over Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June. Festival-goers will be able to enjoy the motoring and aviation collections at Brooklands Museum, the full facilities of Mercedes-Benz World, a trade shopping village, entertainers and a myriad of classic, vintage and veteran cars.
