Soucek joins FMS

Fisichella Motor Sport International has announced that Andy Soucek will race for the team in the 2008 GP2 Series.

Andy, who was born in Madrid in 1985, has previous GP2 experience in 2007, achieving a second and a third place in Spa and Valencia Grand Prix. In 2006, the 22-year-old tested for the Toyota F1 Team. In 2008, Andy will focus on his GP2 series with Fisichella Motor Sport International.

Andy began his racing career in 1997, competing in karts for five years, before making the move up to formula racing in Spanish Formula 3 Toyota in 2002, until he won the Championship in 2005.

He competed in the World Series in 2006, finishing fourth in the championship after fighting until the last race for the Championship, he recorded one race win and seven further podiums. While competing in the World Series that year, Andy also tested for the Toyota F1 Team.

I'm also glad to work with my new team mate Adriàn, we will give a strong push forward to achieve all together a very successful season”.

Giancarlo Fisichella: "We have now completed our line up and it is the most competitive combination we have had since the beginning of FMSI. Our objective is to finish in the top three in the series and the arrival of Andy will make sure we will achieve our goal".
