NEWS STORY
06/11/2007

McLaren is to run two young hopefuls at Silverstone today, part of their prize for winning the McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award in previous years.

Oliver Jarvis, the winner in 2005, and Paul di Resta, the 2004 recipient, will both get the opportunity to cover around 20 laps of the National circuit (2.637kms) in a McLaren MP4-21. Pedro de la Rosa will be on hand to offer advice and driving tips throughout the day - though hopefully not by text or e-mail.

Twenty-one-year-old di Resta, cousin of Dario Franchitti, is currently racing in DTM with Mercedes, having previously won the 2006 Formula 3 Euroseries with ASM.

Oliver Jarvis, a former Formula Renault UK Champion subsequently moved on to Formula 3 with Carlin Motorsport in 2006, while this year, in addition to his outings with Team GBR in A1 GP has been racing in Japanese F3 and GT events.
