Ambitious plans for the future of the Silverstone Circuit have been revealed.

In addition to a Motorsport Technology Park there are plans for a number of hotels, restaurants and even houses, as well as an education campus, a business park and museum.

Residents who live within the South Northants and Aylesbury Vale districts have been urged to comment on the proposals, with a 26 November 2007 deadline having been set.

This is the ambitious plan which it is hoped will finally bring Silverstone into the 21st Century, and end, once and for all, threats to the future of the British Grand Prix at the British Racing Drivers' Club owned track.

The aim is to create a centre for motorsport technology, and a tourist destination which would also provide much needed employment in the area.

"We are very proud to have Silverstone in our district and want to do all we can to enhance its reputation by improving the facilities," said councillor Mary Clarke. "Future development must support Silverstone as the home of the British grand prix and as a motor sport venue generally."

There are no plans to change the track layout, though the paddock and pit complex would be relocated to the straight that joins Club corner with the Abbey chicane. However, should this not be acceptable the alternative is to entirely redevelop the pits and paddock at the current location, between Woodcote and Copse.
