Speaking at today's press conference, Frank Williams signalled that Alexander Wurz is unlikely to retain his race seat for 2008, certainly with the Grove outfit.

Asked about Wurz' performance this season, Williams said: "Alex has been very reliable but I am not sure whether he is going to race again next year".

On the other hand, Williams was full of praise for test driver Kazuki Nakajima, a protege of Toyota, who just happen to supply his engines.

"It's too soon to say if he will have an outstanding future or a medium future in F1," said the Englishman, "but I think he is Formula One material."

Asked if he will have a role within the team next season, Williams declined to comment.

As Fernando Alonso's relationship with McLaren deteriorates, there is intense speculation that Nico Rosberg is high on the Woking team's 'shopping list', though Williams insists he is unwilling to let him go. Furthermore, it is understood that Nico's father, Keke Rosberg, is unhappy about his some joining Hamilton at McLaren, where the Englishman clearly enjoys a special relationship.

In his first full season of racing since 2000, Wurz has had a troubled time, particularly with the qualifying format. Though he has given the Grove outfit its only podium thus far this season (Canada) he has been outperformed by his German teammate for much of the year.
