Having previously said that he would be making an announcement over the course of the British Grand Prix weekend, regards his plans for 2008, Prodriver boss David richards admitted that there would be no such announcement for several weeks.

"It would be nice to have something to announce by now but the truth of the matter is we are a few weeks away from sorting a few issues out," he told reporters at Silverstone today.

"There will definitely be nothing this weekend," he added.

Ever since Prodrive won the twelfth slot last year, there has been speculation as to what package the British team would use, having made no secret of the fact that it was entering F1 at a time when the rules on 'off the shelf' chassis and engine packages are scrapped. It had been widely speculated that that the Banbury based outfit would be running a McLaren-Mercedes package, but Ron Dennis recently revealed that no agreement had been reached.

Today, Richards was giving little away.

"I'm not going to comment on who the partners are," he said, "but we have a favoured partner and are working exclusively down that direction."

With regards sponsors, he said that talks were at an advanced stage, though once again he was giving nothing away.

"It's all very well people agreeing things and signing heads of terms but you need to get them properly contracted before you go formal on anything," he said. "The issue is making sure we have got robust contracts in place."
