Ahead of today's first day of testing at Sepang - where ten teams are on duty - FIA Safety Delegate Charlie Whiting called for a number of minor changes in the name of safety.

In addition to improving guard rails and tyre barriers, Whiting called for the closure of both the North Track and South Track entrances before testing got underway.

"It is always a pleasure to come to a circuit that is in a perfect condition," said Whiting. "However, I have ask them do some minor works for the race,"

Explaining the changes demanded by Whiting, Track Manager Kumarasamy Chellapan said: "We occasionally used half tracks for events. It is now just a case of putting them back in their original locations as specified by the FIA. He also asked us to make sure that all the screws on the guard rails to be tightened up. Other than that he said everything else was perfect," Kumarasamy added.

Kumarasamy also confirmed that Whiting called some of the tyre barriers to be relocated to their previous positions in order to close both the North and South track entrances.

Organizers at Sepang, which hosted its first Grand Prix in 1999, have already upgraded the drainage system at Turn 3, resurfacing a 400-meter stretch between Turn 3 and Turn 4, rin addition to replacing the pit wall glass with debris fences and various other refurbishment within the pit building.
