Weber hits out at British tactics

Team Germany boss Willi Weber (right) has hit out at A1 GP rivals Great Britain after it attempted to have the result of the recent Sepang event overturned.

The British team was unhappy that Germany's Nico Hülkenberg received a push-start after stalling in the pits. Thereby allowing Hülkenberg to maintain his lead and go on to win the race.

Britain's protest was initially dismissed because it was not lodged within thirty minutes of the race results being posted, however, the team subsequently admitted that it had every intention of pursuing the matter.

Looking ahead to this weekend's race at Sentul, Indonesia, Weber, who manages Michael Schumacher was critical of the British team, following a superb performance by his protege.

"Nico is the best," he said. "He won twice in tricky, changing conditions on a wet track demonstrating his class in the progress.

"It's disappointing that this performance is thrown, partially at least, into doubt," he continued. "The stewards of the meeting in Malaysia decided that the rules were not in breach when the mechanics pushed the car after the engine had stalled.

"A1 Team Great Britain nevertheless has a problem with this. When the British didn't make any further progress through legal means, they continued with attacks publicly in interviews and statements against us. I'm convinced that this is the wrong way to compensate for the enormous 42 second gap to us in the rain - hard work is certainly a more credible way.

"We view this episode sportingly," he added, "and will continue to answer any questions posed on the track and also want to win in Indonesia."
