Hayanari Shimoda is back at the wheel for A1 Team Japan just two weeks after his best A1 Grand Prix in Indonesia where he qualified fifth and finished ninth in the Sprint race scoring two valuable points. This weekend Hayanari is looking for another good qualifying result and two finishes in the points in Mexico on one of the more technical tracks on the A1GP calendar and he spent the day walking the track and talking with his engineer.

Parque Fundidora is built on the site of a steel works amongst picturesque mountains and is one of the more technical circuits that the A1 Series visits. The 2.1 mile/ 3.4km track consists of twelve turns, combinations of fast and slow, and is wider than many on the calendar to date promising plenty of overtaking manoeuvres and action in the races on Sunday.

Hayanari Shimoda: "This track looks really good! Very special with many unique corners. It's not been used for a while so the track speeds will increase as we drive on it and it gets cleaned. It's a really interesting mix of slow speed and high speed corners. I was pleased with the qualifying position in Indonesia so I want to be in the top six again here. I'm looking forward to getting into the car again and seeing how it feels to drive here."
