Newey linked to Red Bull

NEWS STORY

McLaren design guru, Adrian Newey, is being linked with a move to Red Bull as the F1 'circus' winds down after its busiest season ever and begins preparing for the 2006 season.

In recent years, the future of Newey, who joined McLaren from WilliamsF1 in 1998, has been the subject of much speculation. In addition to plans to design a racing yacht, Newey was also involved in a sensational move to Jaguar in 2001, but had a last minute change of heart.

With his contract with McLaren due to run out in January - having been renewed earlier this year - The Independent is reporting that Newey has informed the Woking team of his intention to leave and join Red Bull.

It's unclear whether - assuming the speculation proves correct - Newey would join Red Bull, where Mark Smith is currently in charge, or the former Minardi team, Squadra Toro Rosso.
