Sato penalized for qualifying incident

NEWS STORY

BAR's Takuma Sato has forfeited his qualifying time, and therefore fourteenth place on the grid, following the incident during qualifying, when he slowed down on his 'in lap' and impeded Mark Webber, who was on his flying lap.

The FIA stewards have decided that the Japanese driver "illegitimately impeded" Webber and have therefore nullified his qualifying time, as a result of him breaching Article 114 of the FIA's F1 Sporting Regulations.

The stewards also investigated a similar incident involving Rubens Barrichello, who was caught by Giancarlo Fisichella. However, the Brazilian was only given a warning since the incident was not as serious as the other.

It's unclear at this time as to exactly where Sato will start from on the grid, as four drivers, including Michael Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve, failed to post times.
