In recent weeks, various F1 race and test drivers have been only too keen to express their thoughts, whether vocally or in writing with regards the current situation in F1, namely safety and the recent USA GP debacle. Therefore it comes as something of a disappointment to learn that just 12 drivers have committed to meet with FIA President, Max Mosley, in Cannes next month.

Drivers were originally meant to meet with Mosley on the Friday of the British GP, but the Englishman cancelled the meeting when it appeared - following an interview David Coulthard did with the British media - that the meeting might harbour a hidden (political) agenda.

Subsequently, Mosley rescheduled the meeting to take place in Cannes, France, on August 1.

A spokesman for the FIA has today confirmed that 12 drivers have committed to the meeting: "Twelve drivers have confirmed that they will attend," he told Pitpass. "Although the level of interest is somewhat disappointing, the FIA feels the meeting should take place regardless.

"Those drivers who are prepared to attend the meeting, and wish to express their views on safety should have the opportunity to be heard," he added.

It's not known who 'the twelve' are, but it is presumed that Coulthard will be amongst them, since he has been one of the most vociferous in recent weeks, at one stage warning of the possibility of drivers going 'on strike'.
