Willy... what?

Wasn't it something Monty Python talk about on one of their songs...?
(So three cheers for your Willy or John Thomas...)

Ah, you mean Williams... the deodorant brand?

Or do you mean Williams, Robbie, the british singer?
('Cos I got too much speed / Running through my veins / Going to waste...)

In my book you just earned yourself 10 brownie points for getting Monthy Python into your reply. Applause

Of course, I have to say a big "amen" to that. I wouldn't be paying proper homage to my username if not.

You all know, the expected Williams is not dead, it's just resting (or pinning for the Fjords) was tooooo obvious an answer...
Very Happy

Two articles to read here.

Michael and Tomlinson to leave Williams

and

Williams appoints Coughlan

Careers ending unfulfilled or in unfavourable circumstances are not nice to witness but this must be good for Williams. Change absolutely was necessary.

Many, especially those who favour red apparel, will be critical of the appointment of Mike Coughlan. I am of the view that people make mistakes and can learn from them. I believe that Mike's biggest mistake in that troubled summer of 2007 was all about stupidity.

I wish him well and I wish Williams well.

Pitpass, in the second article, notes that Williams' problems "... go much, much deeper."

No doubt. Let's hope this is the first step on the way back.

True, this time he'll buy a photocopier rather than using a shop where the assistant is wearing a Ferrari cap.

Continuing the Python theme - well done!

This, to me, does look like the inevitable meltdown (or I'm reading too much into it). I certainly hope I'm wrong.

Am I wrong in also thinking it's not wise to lose/get rid of TWO engineers? Bad enough bringing in a fresh engineer mid-season, I'd have thought.

With share prices going through the decline, if it continues, it might be somewhat academic.

I might be wrong of course but with Adam Parr's 'contacts' shouldn't Williams be one of the better sponsored teams in paddock heaven........

There seems to be word of Renault supplying Williams again.

Because that's what they need - further instability Mad

I'm no fan of Ferrari but remain sceptical of the Mike Coughlan appointment.

Williams are a far cry from the dominant force that they were in the 1990's and as things stand, show no sign of reclaiming those glory days.

I can't make my mind up if Sam Michael and Jon Tomlinson are being made scapegoats in all this or not. Certainly, when Michael arrived at Williams, he was seen as a bright young talent but ultimately his time there has achieved absolutely nothing.

Barrichello's obvious frustration with the team, in what may be his final season, is fair enough but then on the other hand, he must have known that by joining Williams, he was going to enjoy little or no success.

If he wanted to go out at the top then maybe he should have retired at the end of 2009.

Ultimately, Coughlan will be judged on results but you can understand the sceptics on his appointment, given his chequered past.

It's clear Williams need something drastic to turn them around but I don’t know what the answer is.

Continuing the Python theme... Williams isn't dead, it's just a flesh wound!

Say one thing for Williams, they have a lovely plumage. Now that's what I call a dead parrot.

Sadly.

Hopefully I'm wrong...
