What's that Bernie?

NEWS STORY
14/10/2009

Bernie Ecclestone has admitted that he hopes the 2009 World Championship fight goes down to the wire in Abu Dhabi.

No doubt the F1 supremo, who has seen quite a few titles go down to the wire over the years, was spoiled by last year's cliff-hanger when the outcome was decided on the last corner of the last lap when Timo Glock proved unable to keep Lewis Hamilton at bay, thereby breaking a million Brazilian hearts, not least that of Felipe Massa. It was a finale of Hollywood proportions indeed, some even suspected the handiwork of Turk Thrust.

Looking ahead to this year's Brazilian Grand Prix however, Ecclestone is hoping that Button won't get the job done and that the championship fight will go all the way to the desert.

"I would like to see him do me a big favour and get the World Championship clinched in Abu Dhabi," the Englishman told the Times. "But if he can't wait, well, I understand that. But who knows what's going to happen?"

Who knows indeed Bernie, but let's not forget that under your precious medal based system the title would have been wrapped up in Singapore... what value your Abu Dhabi event then old boy?
