Nico Rosberg has taken to Twitter to ask for the return of a helmet stolen over the German Grand Prix weekend.

"My race helmet got stolen out of the security guarded team's garage at Nurburgring GP on sSnday at 1.51 a.m," revealed the Mercedes driver.

"Check the FIA picture of the thief. Let us know if any of you see one on ebay or somewhere else. I have never given out an original race helmet. so if you see one then let us know. Thanks. Nico."

The German then gave further details of the helmet - a Schuberth registered with the Number R-NR 074/02-13. The SNELL-Label is ST 270141. FIA label gold: AH04248. FIA Label white: Nr. 134 - along with a picture taken by the FIA's CCTV whilst the car was in its garage overnight.

Looking at the black-clad figure in the bottom right of the picture, one can almost hear the strains of the Pink Panther theme.
